ACM’s 2022 Annual Conference

Justice at Work Pre-Conference Training

Hosted by the IEE Caucus, sponsored by Uniset.
Facilitated by Mia Henry and Freedom Lifted

This is a two-part, hybrid model where registrants will have several weeks to participate in virtual training modules and review related content in preparation for an in-person facilitation from 1-5pm on Monday, June 27th. Virtual sessions must be completed prior to June 27th convening. The capacity for this event is 30 people. Early registration is encouraged to guarantee your spot. Participants complete online training & exercises prior to conference

Training is broken down to three areas (four-five hours online):

Identity and Power

Five Faces of Oppression

Resistance and Solidarity

Topics covered – What is social power? Bringing power to people, interrupting bias within ourselves and in institutions, structural inequities and more.

Meet for facilitated, in-person debrief & peer discussion from 1-5pm on Monday, June 27th at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park, prior to the start of the ACM National Conference.

A group lunch will be served Noon-1pm prior to the start of the program.

There is an additional cost of $75 for this program and it requires some pre event online learning.

Central States Region Alliance For Community Media

In order for democracy to flourish, people must be active participants in their government, educated to think critically and free to express themselves. Founded in 1976, the Alliance represents over 3,000 Public, Educational and Governmental (PEG) access organizations and community media center throughout the country. The ACM works to protect the interests of these access centers and those who use PEG facilities and equipment to advance their causes through cable television and the Internet. The Central States Region services Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and Michigan.
